Lewandowski: Comey a Liar, Hopes to Profit From Book Deal

(Fox News' "Fox and Friends")

Corey Lewandowski on Saturday called fired FBI Director James Comey a liar who is looking to profit from a reported $10 million book sale.

"And what we saw this week – I'm shocked by this news – is Jim Comey's about to sign a $10 million book deal, right?" President Donald Trump's former campaign manager told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" program. "It's amazing how these guys go from government service to multi-millionaires, and people wonder why Washington is broken."

The book deal was reported by The Daily Mail, a conservative London tabloid which cited only anonymous sources in its report. The story has been widely cited, but not confirmed by other media sources, notes The Hill.

The Daily Mail story also claimed that major Hollywood producers are lining up for movie rights to Comey's life and testimony.

"I know one top drawer producer who's already talking to stars to cast the Comey role," a source referred to as a "prominent movie-TV agent," told The Daily Mail. "He has to be tall, good-looking and a Jimmy Stewart-John Wayne-hero type. I was mesmerized when I spent the whole day watching Comey testify. Comey could expect a movie deal tied into the book worth many millions of dollars more, tens of millions."

Meanwhile, Trump said Friday he is "100 percent" willing to testify under oath, and if that happens, Comey will be in "big trouble," said Lewandowski.

"Under oath, in front of the committee, he said things which we know to be factually inaccurate not just in his testimony this week, but when he was the director of the FBI," said Lewandowski. "He has had to come back and recant statements that he has made and make misstatements because Jim Comey is a liar. When you are under oath, you should be very, very careful about what you say and we learned that this week when Jim Comey once again was not telling the truth under oath or he couldn't remember."

Trump's position has been clear, said Lewandowski, and Comey has had to admit the president has never been under investigation by the FBI, "not as a candidate, not as the president-elect and not as the president of the United States."

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said the testimony shows the "knives are out" for Trump, and it's time for congressional Republicans to back him, and Lewandowski said he's "100 percent" right."

"The deep state is very, very real," said Lewandowski. "The swamp creatures are very real. Don't kid yourself. Jim Comey is a person who has made a very good career living in Washington...the people who are in Washington, who are holdovers from the previous administration have zero desire to help this president get his agenda done and they should leave office."
