Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, said Thursday that "every American should be outraged" by Facebook's decision to remove her interview with the ex-president from its platform.
"It is so crazy," Trump, now a contributor for Fox News, said on "Fox and Friends." "I know people who dislike Donald Trump might celebrate this and think this is great, (say) 'we don't want to hear from him anyway, but every American should be outraged by this because today it's Donald Trump, tomorrow it could be you."
Facebook Tuesday night pulled the audio from the podcast "The Right View With Lara Trump," and later that night pulled it from Instagram as well after she touted her sit-down interview with Trump, reports The New York Post.
Trump got an email from Facebook saying that the content was removed from her page that featured the former president speaking "in like with the block" that had been placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts, and warned that further content featuring his voice would be removed and would result in more limitations on her accounts.
However, she does have a Facebook post with a photo of her and the former president, and a link to the interview itself.
"The fact that they are able to just say we won't put up a video of the president of the United States, they censored him while he was president, should terrify every single American," said Trump on Fox News. "This is not the country we want to live in. This happens in Communist countries but the message is they want to erase Donald Trump. They want you to forget he existed, don't want you to see him or hear from him, look away, move on, shut up and go on about your lives, forget Donald Trump existed. This is scary stuff."
She said her father-in-law is also "very upset" by Facebook's ruling.
"He might be thinking of (launching) a social media platform, and there is never a better time to push that forward," she said.
Trump on Friday also commented on the situation at the nation's border, reacting to news concerning smugglers who had dropped two Eucadoran girls, ages 3 and 5, over a 14-foot high section of border wall.
"I have a 3-year-old," she said. "As soon as I saw that video I immediately thought he would be terrified, no idea what to do."
Children are being brought to the border, she added, because President Joe Biden has said that if "'you send the kids here, we won't send them back.'"
"It is not a secret," she said. "It is almost a joke. We are putting these kids in so much danger ... it is so horrible to see."
Trump also noted that migrant children are being taught in person in San Diego while American children aren't having the opportunity to be in school.
"You know who needs to make a fuss about this, the parents," she said. "They outnumber the teachers union and those folks making these decisions ... it is a scary thing and the priority is not on American children but kids that are illegally in this country. This has to change."
