It would be a critical "mistake" for Donald Trump's campaign to focus on the evolving scandal of Hillary Clinton's private email server scandal, economist Larry Kudlow said Sunday.
In remarks to NBC News' "Meet The Press,"
Kudlow, an informal adviser to the GOP nominee, said Trump must "stay on message" and leave the issue of newly discovered emails by the FBI – and a reopening of its investigation on the email scandal – to his surrogates.
"If the Trump campaign runs on the e-mails for the next 10 or nine days, they are making a mistake," he declared. "That's out there. Their spokespeople will talk about it."
"My view is, Mr. Trump does his best when he talks about issues. He was gaining ground and the polls were narrowing before this e-mail scandal," he added.
"I think they have to stay economic growth, tax cuts, a new issue that has emerged…. Obamacare, he does best on issues."
"He has to stay on message," Kudlow asserted.
