Americans for Prosperity is kicking off a nearly $5 million advertising blitz designed to help Republican Senate candidates in Wisconsin, Missouri and Tennessee, The Hill is reporting.

The group, backed by billionaire donors Charles and David Koch, is set to launch the ads on Thursday.

“Americans can’t afford to continue electing politicians who believe the path to prosperity is through higher taxes, more spending, and bigger government,” said AFP president Tim Phillips. “We are committed to building broad policy coalitions by supporting principled champions and opposing those who will take our country in the wrong direction.”

AFP will spend $2.1 million in Missouri for a 30-second ad labeling Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., as a “career politician,” according to The Hill. The ad also notes she voted for Obamacare.

About $2 million will go for ads in Tennessee to bolster GOP Rep. Marsha Blackburn in her race against former Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat for the seat now held to retiring Sen. Bob Corker.

“While we struggled through a recession, Bredesen wasted $9 million taxpayer dollars upgrading his governor’s mansion, $4 million on a party cave, gilded bathrooms and a kitchen worth two Tennessee homes,” the ad says. “Phil Bredesen lived the life. We paid the bill.”

AFP is also spending $800,000 in an ad attacking Sen. Tammy Baldwin D-Wis., in her race with Republican Leah Vukmir.

The advertising comes after officials from the Koch network, citing disappointment with Republican spending bills, had previously said it would cut back plans to defend Republican majorities in the House and Senate, the Washington Examiner reported.
