President Donald Trump on Wednesday ripped former secretary of state John Kerry as the “world’s worst negotiator” and accused him of violating the Logan Act.
“I withdrew the United States from the disastrous Iran nuclear deal. Remember when they signed that deal – they were all screaming death to the U.S.A., death to the United States as we’re signing a deal,” Trump said while giving remarks at the Faith & Freedom Coalition in Washington, D.C.
“You got John Kerry, the world’s worst negotiator, who by the way has totally violated the Logan Act. He’s talking to them all the time, telling them what to do. ‘Gee, don’t do it, you’re going to make me look bad if you do it. Don’t make a deal. Wait Trump.’ He probably says, ‘Wait him out, maybe he’ll lose the election.’ How about that? We have a long way to go, 15 months, right? And you have a guy saying, ‘Wait him out. Maybe he’ll lose the election.’ That’s against the law. You can’t do that. I’m supposed to be doing a good job.”
Trump also suggested that if it wasn’t for Kerry, Iran would have already been in negotiations with the U.S.
Trump’s statement came as tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to escalate after Iran shot down a $110 million U.S. drone last week. The president over the weekend called off a retaliatory strike against Iran after learning that 150 people could have been killed in the attack.
