RNC Spokeswoman: Indictments Unravel Dem's Collusion Theory

Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany touted that Friday's indictment of 13 Russians – and no Americans – on election meddling charges "marks the day that the Democrats' Russia collusion conspiracy theory unraveled."

"What we learned is astonishing," McEnany said on Fox News, Mediaite reported.

"We learned that the Russians also were organizing for Bernie Sanders. We learned that in late November of 2016 they turned their plots to be against Donald Trump.

"Their goal was to sow discord and chaos, not to promote a certain candidate, and that no Americans were involved in this plot … Democrats deceived this country and they were caught today."

And she noted that, in announcing the indictments, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said, "there is no allegation in this indictment that any American had any knowledge."

Jehmu Greene, a former candidate for DNC chair, responded that she hopes Trump will go before the American people and acknowledge that the Russians "have been trying to interfere in our democracy."

McEnany shot back: "The President has said yes; the Russians have meddled in our election and it's a very serious thing. He has said that. That is documented. That is accurate."

Trump has repeatedly called the Russia probe a "hoax," and has said there was "no collusion."
