John Bolton, the White House national security adviser, is set to travel to Russia for discussions about a possible summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the White House and Kremlin announced Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported.
"This trip will indeed happen," Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, Russian state media reported.
National Security Council spokesman Garrett Marquis confirmed the plans, saying Bolton plans to visit London and Rome in a trip from June 25 to June 27, then go to Moscow to discuss the potential summit, the Journal reported.
The plans for a summit are not final, but two possibilities are either before the NATO summit in Brussels on July 11 or after Trump visits Britain on July 13, people familiar with the matter said.
