Former House Speaker John Boehner said he is voting for fellow Republican Donald Trump for president Nov. 8.
While he disagrees with Trump on many issues, Boehner supports him over Democrat Hillary Clinton because of Trump's promise to nominate conservative justices to the Supreme Court, Boehner told host Brit Hume in an interview Wednesday on Fox News Channel's "On the Record."
"You have to understand, Supreme Court justices today are going to serve 20, 30, 40 years," Boehner said, "the biggest impact any president will have on American society and the American economy."
The former speaker said he expects even more bad news to come out about Trump as well as Democrat Hillary Clinton before the election.
"Can't be any worse, could it?" he said.
Boehner said he expects Republicans to hold on to control of the House of Representatives and voters more than ever this year will be paying attention to down-ballot races.
"I think we're going to see more ticket splitting than we've ever seen in an election, where people typically would go in, vote for president, may not even vote in the congressional race," he said.
