MSNBC's "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough on Thursday reacted in real time to a tweet dig from President Donald Trump about the show's ratings.

After show panelist Willie Geist read this Trump tweet on the air, Scarborough then thanked the president for the viewership of one.

“If it is true that nobody is watching us anymore, we do know based on your staff members that we have at least one viewer every morning, and we thank you, Donald,” Scarborough said. “We can always count on you.

"How are you doing? Get some sleep. Get some sleep. We’re sad for you. He’s not doing well," Scarborough said.

The "Morning Joe" panel was reacting to the flurry of news overnight and into Thursday about Trump's desire to meet with special counsel Robert Mueller while his lawyers pull back on the leash.

"It's obvious. Donald Trump's lawyers have no confidence in him," Scarborough said. "They don't think he's smart enough to sit across the table from Robert Mueller.

"They think he's too dumb to do it. I'd be insulted if I were him but he can hire the lawyers he wants to hire," Scarborough said.
