Shortly after former President Donald Trump was declared the winner of the Iowa Republican caucus, President Joe Biden appealed for donations to take on the "clear front runner on the other side."
Taking to social media platform X on Monday night, Biden posted: "Looks like Donald Trump just won Iowa. He's the clear front runner on the other side at this point. But here's the thing: this election was always going to be you and me vs. extreme MAGA Republicans. It was true yesterday and it'll be true tomorrow. So if you're with us, chip in now."
The post linked to a fundraising page where Biden supporters could check off a donation to the president's reelection campaign.
Biden raised more than $97 million in the fourth fundraising quarter and campaign officials bragged on social media that the "historic" amount of money to burn is more than even former President Barack Obama could bring in.
Citing figures from the Biden campaign, the Washington Examiner reported that the president's team has $117 million in cash on hand, marking the "highest total amassed by any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle."
