House Freedom Caucus founding Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, set out the group's healthcare goals during a Wednesday appearance on CNN's "New Day."
"Let's get out those regulations," Jordan said. "Let's do all we can to lower premiums for the American people."
He added, "We've always been focused on those regulations, which are driving up the cost of premiums."
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., vowed Tuesday to continue pursuing the GOP's campaign call to repeal and replace Obamacare, despite the recent setback.
"We're going to get this right, and in the meantime we're going to do all of our other work that we came here to do," he told reporters, according to The Hill.
Jordan said Monday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" the GOP healthcare plan had a number of problems that prevented conservatives in his caucus from supporting it.
Story continues after the video.
"It wasn't going to bring down premiums, it had a host of problems," he said, per RealClearPolitics. "And frankly, the key promise we made the American people in the 2010, 2014, and 2016 election was we would repeal Obamacare. This legislation didn't do that. And that was the fundamental flaw in this entire process.
"So, let's get back to work, and let's do what we said we would do."
