Himes on Kushner: 'Conclusions Are Going to Have to Wait'
MSNBC

Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., said Wednesday that White House adviser Jared Kushner's congressional testimony "was a refreshing change" from his colleagues.

"I'm not going to weigh-in on whether everything he said was absolutely accurate. I will say the way in which he did it was a refreshing change from the way some White House officials, including the guy at the top, have treated this investigation," Himes said on MSNBC.

Kushner, who is also President Donald Trump's son-in-law, testified before the House and Senate intelligence committees this week over his contacts with Russian officials during the election campaign.

"Conclusions are going to have to wait until we do a lot more spadework of the committee," Himes added. "[Kushner] again spoke to Congress with great clarity yesterday. Whether he told the truth is only something that can be verified through more work."

Himes' fellow committee member, Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, told PBS Newshour on Tuesday that Kushner "didn't have much to add" to the Russia investigation.

"I got to tell you, though, that for those who are hoping and looking for the impeachment of Donald Trump, Jared Kushner is not that guy. I mean, he's not going to carry that narrative chord," Stewart said.

"He's very sincere, very honest, and he just didn't have much to add to this story in those who are looking for evidence of collusion."
