The only reason the Trump administration released congressionally approved military aid to Ukraine was because it got "caught" and "the jig was up," Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., said Sunday.
In an interview on CBS's "Face the Nation," Himes refuted the excuses there was no bribery because nothing happened after President Donald Trump asked for a "favor" that Ukraine investigate alleged corruption involving Joe Biden and his son.
"'Hey, the aid was released and the meeting happened,'" Himes said, mocking the administration declaration.
"After they were caught," he pointed out.
"When the jig was up, then the aid was released, once they were caught," he said.
He also asserted House Democrats are united on the evidence presented during impeachment inquiry hearings.
"One thing is true: every single day and every single piece of testimony brought up new information . . . I don't think any Democrat in Congress looked at what happened over the last two weeks and said, 'Gosh there's nothing there,'" he said.
