Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz says it is "atrocious" that a 95-year-old former Nazi concentration camp guard had been allowed to live in the U.S.
"Well, I hope he never ever rests and I hope he rots in hell," Chaffetz said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program on Tuesday. “This is one of the most atrocious things that's ever, ever happened on the face of the planet."
The White House said Jakiw Palij, who lived in New York City, has now been deported to Germany. Palij was a guard at the Trawniki camp.
A judge ordered Palij deported in 2004, but he continued to live in limbo at his home in Queens because no country would accept him.
"But it took the Trump administration to finally have the political guts to do what they needed to do," Chaffetz said. "And then Ambassador (Richard) Grenell going over there and insisting that Germany take this person back."
