As he gets set for his new job as senior adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, his father-in-law, Jared Kushner is giving up his role as publisher of the Observer and selling his share in the news site, The Washington Post reports.
Observer chief executive Joseph Meyer told his staff: "As you've certainly been reading, our publisher Jared Kushner, has taken an official role in the incoming administration.
"I will be taking over as Observer publisher, and Jared will no longer have an ownership stake in the Observer."
Kushner bought the Observer in 2006. CNN reports it will be sold to a family trust.
Kushner, his wife, Ivanka Trump, and their children are not the beneficiaries of the family trust.
