Saying "I have some people I'm not thrilled with" and "at some point, everybody leaves," President Donald Trump admitted Sunday a departure of Defense Secretary James Mattis might be coming, because "he's sort of a Democrat."
"It could be that he is [leaving the administration]," President Trump told CBS's "60 Minutes." "I think he's sort of a Democrat, if you want to know the truth."
President Trump said he had lunch with Mattis this week, adding "Gen. Mattis is a good guy — we get along very well."
"He may leave," President Trump concluded. "At some point, everybody leaves. People leave. That's Washington."
Rejecting reports of White House disorder as "fake news," President Trump said the changes are strategic and meant to improve the administration — not detract from it.
"I'm changing things around, and I'm entitled to," President Trump said. "I have people now on standby that will be phenomenal. They'll come into the administration, they'll be phenomenal."
