Indiana Republican Senate candidate Rep. Todd Rokita donned a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat in a new television ad he's running ahead of the GOP primary.
Rokita's one in a crowded field of GOP candidates hoping to unseat incumbent Democrat, Sen. Joe Donnelly. The seat is one of several Republicans are hopeful they can flip in November's midterms.
Rokita's trying to create a brand that separates him from GOP competition.
"Here's the truth: we are not going to beat Joe Donnelly with a RINO," Rokita says in the ad, using the acronym for Republican in Name Only.
"Mike Braun, he's a lifelong Democrat. He voted for Obama or Hillary ... wow. And Luke Messer, he plotted with the Never Trumpers to steal the nomination from President Trump. You gotta be kidding me."
Messer is also a sitting Republican congressman.
Rokita then pulls out a red MAGA hat from his back pocket and dons it.
"I'll proudly stand with our president and Mike Pence to drain the swamp," Rokita says.
Rokita led in January polling, pulling in 24 percent of the vote vs. 9 percent for Braun and almost 9 for Messer. But 58 percent said they were undecided.
The Indiana primary is May 8.
