A number of Hollywood celebrities have opened their checkbooks and donated to the reelection campaign of Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., the
Hill reports.
Lily Tomlin, radio host Garrison Keillor and Carl Reiner are among those who’ve added to Franken’s war chest.
According to campaign filings, the former “Saturday Night Live” writer and performer’s Midwest Values PAC has also benefited from the generosity of “MacGyver” lead actor Richard Dean Anderson, award-winning songwriter Paul Williams and fellow SNL alums Tim Meadows, Jane Curtin and Kevin Nealon.
Franken, who has over $2 million in his campaign account, has embraced campaigning publicly with entertainment moguls.
In January, Franken held a fundraising brunch at The Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., with Kenny Loggins and country music artists Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr.
Last month, Conan O’Brien raffled tickets to a brunch at his house in support of Franken’s 2014 race.
Republicans are seeking to run a top-tier candidate to oppose Franken, but one has yet to emerge.
