President Donald Trump responded to a prediction that he could lose reelection because of mail-in voting by wondering whether the election will be "rigged."
The day after a group connected to Michael Bloomberg, who briefly ran for president as a Democrat before quitting the race in March, said that Democrat Joe Biden could beat Trump, the president tweeted a familiar-sounding argument.
"Rigged Election?" he wrote.
The group, Hawkfish, was started by Bloomberg in the spring of 2019 and has received millions of dollars from the former New York City mayor. It recently crunched some numbers and concluded that Trump could take a significant lead when the votes from Election Day are counted, but that Biden could ultimately be declared the winner by a comfortable margin days later once the mail-in ballots are factored in.
Trump and his supporters have claimed that mail-in voting will lead to fraud and that Democrats are forcing the practice during the pandemic to help Biden win. Last month, Trump said he would only lose the election if it's "rigged" against him.
