A banker who unsuccessfully challenged New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler wrongly attributed a quote to founding father Alexander Hamilton earlier this week.
"As Alexander Hamilton says, 'This is not a moment, this is the movement,'" Democrat Oliver Rosenberg said on a radio program Monday,
reports CNN.
"Foes oppose us. We take an honest stand. We roll like Moses claiming our promised land. Rise up, rise up and vote."
The quote, however, was not from Hamilton. Instead, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created the Broadway musical "Hamilton," said it.
Miranda is the star of the musical, although he is
leaving the show in July. "Hamilton" made its debut off-Broadway early last year to sold-out crowds.
Rosenberg lost to Nadler in Tuesday's primary election.
Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton found herself in hot water in April after she and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio
made a racial joke alongside a member of the "Hamilton" cast.
