GOP donors approve of President Donald Trump’s tough talk on Twitter aimed at London Mayor Sadiq Khan, The Hill reports.
"I get it," said Brian Ballard, a Trump fundraiser. "We’ve got a real war going on. We’re living in dangerous times.
"People are over the political correctness. When people are having their throats slashed, it’s not fine."
Khan had this to say about the attack's aftermath in a BBC interview: "Londoners will see an increased police presence [Sunday] and over the course of the next few days. No reason to be alarmed."
Trump took Khan’s words out of context in tweets sent out Sunday and Monday.
"Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement. MSM [mainstream media] is working hard to sell it!" Trump tweeted Monday morning.
"This is why he was elected. He’s no-nonsense," another donor told the Hill. "I’ve heard nothing but good things about what he said [about the attacks] — at least in my world."
Four GOP donors who spoke to the Hill weren’t critical of Trump’s remarks.
