Soros has invested in other district attorney races around the U.S., including Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia, as well as other states, the Free Beacon reported.
A district attorney decides who is prosecuted for crimes and who is not.
Around the U.S., Soros' method of operation includes setting up a PAC, pushing funds into it, then using those funds to provide a particular candidate with a financial windfall for the campaign. After the election, Soros refunds any extra money back to himself and closes the political action committee, the Free Beacon reported.
In one instance in Philadelphia, Soros supported Larry Krasner with a $1.7 million push in a PAC established by Tymas. Krasner won by almost 40 percentage points in the largely Democratic-leaning city, the Free Beacon's report said.
The Krasner race was the first time in Philadelphia a PAC had been formed for a district attorney election, the Free Beacon noted.
The Oregon PAC has not been active since its formation, the Free Beacon reported.
The American Civil Liberties Union, with backing from Soros, is planning voter education and outreach campaigns in district attorney races in numerous states, McClatchy DC Bureau reported in March.
