Former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday launched a social awareness campaign through his foundation to promote acceptance of LGBTQ youth.

The campaign, titled "As You Are," launched with a video featuring Biden, pop singer Cyndi Lauper, a former NFL player and myriad LGBTQ activists.

"We'll use our resources to highlight the harms of family rejection and lift up research, best practices and personal stories to show the importance of family acceptance," Biden says in the video.

Biden has been a force on behalf of LGBTQ issues since leaving office, once writing that transgender equality is "the civil rights issue of our time," CBS News reports.
