A federal judge, who is married to a new member of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigative team, recused herself from two lawsuits involving President Donald Trump, Politico is reporting.
U.S. District Court Judge Ronnie Abrams is the wife of Greg Andres, a former fraud and corruption prosecutor. Andres just joined the staff probing Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential election, the website said.
Just last month the judge, who was appointed to the bench by former President Barack Obama, recused herself from a pair of lawsuits challenging Trump's business dealings with foreign government, Politico reported.
One case was brought by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW) and the other was filed by attorney William Weinstein of White Plains, N.Y.
While both cases show they were officially reassigned to another judge, Politico said a person familiar with the situation confirmed Abrams had actually pulled off the cases.
Andres, who started his job on Tuesday, became the 16th lawyer on Mueller's team, Reuters reports.
He had worked at the Justice Department from 2010 to 2012 and served as deputy assistant attorney general in the criminal division.
