Forty-seven percent of Americans said they approved of Russia special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, while 56 percent disapproved of President Donald Trump's handling to the probe, a new CNN poll finds.

The survey results were released Thursday. CNN surveyed 1,001 Americans between last Thursday and Sunday.

Here are the results:

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Robert Mueller is handling the Russia investigation?

  • Approve: 47 percent.
  • Disapprove: 34 percent.
  • Undecided: 19 percent.

Do you approve or disapprove of the way President Donald Trump is handling the Moscow probe?

  • Disapprove: 56 percent.
  • Approve: 32 percent.
  • Don't know: 13 percent.

Do you believe Trump's public statements about the Russia probe have been true or false?

  • False: 56 percent.
  • True: 35 percent.
  • No opinion: 9 percent.

Is the Russia probe a serious matter or a distraction for President Trump?

  • Serious: 61 percent.
  • Distraction for Trump: 34 percent.
  • No opinion: 5 percent.

The CNN poll has a margin of error of 3.8 percent.
