Adding Sen. Kamala Harris as Joe Biden's running mate was an "early Christmas present" for President Donald Trump's campaign, Eric Trump said Thursday.
"I don't know why magically she's going to become this unicorn that somehow rejuvenates Joe Biden who has zero enthusiasm, but I really believe she was some kind of Christmas present in August for my father and for the campaign," Trump, the president's son and the Trump Organization's executive vice president, said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends."
He noted that Harris got under 2% of the total vote when she was still a presidential candidate, and complained that under her leadership, her own home city of San Francisco failed in many ways, including comparing "the police department there to the KKK."
She also wants "socialized medicine'' that could cause Americans to lose their private insurance, said Trump.
He also commented on the news that new unemployment claims have dropped to under 1 million, the lowest number since March and the beginnings of coronavirus shutdowns.
"If you look at the last three months, 9.3 million Americans went back to work," said Trump. "If you look at last month alone if you look at July, right, 1.8 million jobs were created, which blew away expectations and then you look at this month, you look at the claim you're talking about right now, well under 1 million, which again blew away expectations. My father always said that you're going to have a V-shaped recovery and look at where the Dow Jones is right now."
