Eric Bolling: Vote Delay 'Best Thing' for GOP

(Fox News)

Fox News co-host Eric Bolling described the decision to push the House vote on the Republican healthcare plan "the best thing" for Republicans.

"The best thing that happened to Republicans is this thing failed," he said on "The Five" Friday, according to The Hill. He then wondered how the GOP would fare in the midterm elections.

"Can you imagine running on this thing being the bill and your premiums are exploding in middle to lower incomes and your congressman in Kansas saying 'reelect me?' Good Lord!"

President Donald Trump heavily pushed the bill, insisting that a vote would take place Friday, but he placed the blame squarely on the opposing party.

"We were very close," Trump said after the vote was cancelled, according to CNN. "It was a very, very tight margin."

"We had no Democratic support," he said. "I've been saying for the last year and a half that the best thing we could do, politically speaking, is let Obamacare explode. It's exploding right now."

Trump added in a telephone interview with The New York Times, "The best thing that could happen is exactly what happened — watch. It's enough already."

Some in the GOP disagreed, however, including Rep. Mark Walker of North Carolina.

"You can't pretend and say this is a win for us," he said, adding that it's a "good moment" for Democrats.

"Probably that champagne that wasn't popped back in November may be utilized this evening," he told the Times.
