One in four Republicans think Donald Trump should step down as their party's nominee, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday.

The results of likely Republican voters:

  • Step down: 26 percent
  • Remain: 67 percent
  • Trump supporters who say step down: 8 percent
  • Remain: 83 percent

Just 35 percent of unaffiliated voters think Trump should step down versus 50 percent who don't believe he should.

Further, one-third of Republican likely voters think vice presidential candidate Mike Pence would make a better presidential candidate:

  • For Pence: 31 percent
  • Disagree: 53 percent
  • Undecided: 16 percent

The Rasmussen survey comes after the damning audiotape of Trump's lewd comments about women but before allegations this week of sexual harassment charges levied by three different women.

The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted on Oct. 10 to 11 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
