President Donald Trump says he probably won't ask his Supreme Court nominees how they might vote on upholding the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
"Well, that's a big one, and probably not," Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo in an interview scheduled to air Sunday at 10 a.m. on "Sunday Morning Futures."
"They are all saying don't do that. You don't do that. You shouldn't do that," Trump said. "But I'm putting conservative people on, and I'm very proud of Neil Gorsuch. He has been outstanding. His opinions are, you know, so well written, so brilliant. And I'm going to try and do something like that, but I don't think I'm going to be so specific."
The network announced Friday that Bartiromo and Trump would also "discuss the current state of the United States economy, global trade sanctions, immigration, and more."
Trump picked Gorsuch to replace Antonin Scalia for a lifetime job on the Supreme Court in January 2017, and now must nominate someone to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.
Speaking to reporters during an Oval Office meeting with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Trump said he would draw from a list of 25 potential court candidates that his campaign had assembled during his presidential run.
Trump also told Bartiromo he hopes Democrats keep pushing to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
"I hope they keep thinking about it because they're going to get beaten so badly. You know, ICE, these are the guys that go in and take MS-13 and take them out because they are much tougher than MS-13, like by a factor of 10.and these are the ones. … You get rid of ICE, you're going to have a country that you're going to be afraid to walk out of your house. I love that issue if they're going to actually do that."
