President Donald Trump revealed the name he calls his new chief of staff John Kelly, The Hill reported Friday.
"I call him 'chief,'" Trump told reporters Friday at his Bedford, N.J., golf club. "He's brought something special to the office."
"He's a respected man. He's a four-star from the Marines, and he carries himself like a four-star from the Marines," Trump added. "And, he's my friend, which is very important."
Trump named Kelly chief of staff late last month when he also announced former chief of staff Reince Priebus was stepping down. Kelly, a retired four-star Marine general, had been serving as Homeland Security secretary.
Kelly faces a White House that's been plagued by leaks and controversies. On his first day as chief of staff, Kelly reportedly fired White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci from his position. Scaramucci had served less than two weeks in Trump's administration.
