President Donald Trump has reportedly grown frustrated with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, which was evident in his Monday morning Twitter posts that criticized the DOJ and his travel ban.

The New York Times cited administration officials who said the president has started blaming Sessions' DOJ when things do not go the way the White House hoped. One such example, the Times noted, was Sessions' decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation because of his involvement with Trump's campaign.

There is also the travel order, which Trump has twice tried to enact. The latest order temporarily halts travel from six countries with a terror presence, although it is currently locked up in a court battle.

Trump called that version of the order a "watered down, politically correct" one.

Lawyers told the Times Trump's public attacks on the DOJ are indicative of how he feels about the man leading it.

"They wholly undercut the idea that there is some rational process behind the president's decisions," former Clinton official Walter Dellinger told the Times. "I believe it is unprecedented for a president to publicly chastise his own Justice Department."

The Times reported Trump has continued to be upset at Sessions' recusal. The president fired FBI Director James Comey last month, and some reports suggest the reason was because Comey would not drop the FBI's Trump-Russia investigation.

Sessions has come under fire, meanwhile, for not disclosing meetings he had with Russian diplomats during Trump's campaign — meetings Sessions said were part of his duties as a senator.
