The Democratic National Committee Thursday said that Jared Kushner's security clearance should be suspended after reports that President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser is under investigation by the FBI for his Russian dealings.
"The FBI's Russia investigation reached Trump's backyard, and now it's in his house," Adrienne Watson, the committee's deputy communications director, said in a statement reported by The Hill. "Kushner's security clearance should be suspended until the FBI's findings are complete."
The Washington Post and NBC News reported on Thursday that the FBI was investigating Kushner's meetings last year with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and a banker from Moscow.
Jamie Gorelick, Kushner's lawyer, said that her client would cooperate with the investigation.
"Mr. Kushner previously volunteered with Congress what he knows about these meetings," she said in a statement. "He will do the same if he is contacted in connection with any other inquiry."
