Florida "looks really good" for President Donald Trump's reelection bid, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday.
"We have a Republican ballot deficit going into Election Day that's a smaller percentage than in 2016 when Hillary was up, and we are seeing huge turnout amongst Republicans," the Republican governor told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "In key counties, you have two to one or even more Republicans turning out over Democrats and if that keeps up, I think the president is going to be in a really good position."
He also pointed out Trump's "massive crowd" at his rally in Miami-Dade County over the weekend, noting that in 2016, Trump underperformed there.
"I can tell you, people down there are juiced," said DeSantis. "It doesn't mean (Trump) will win the county, but he will cut into the margin and that's tens of thousands of votes for the president because of his performance in Miami-Dade. I think he's much better positioned this year than he was in '16 and, of course, he did win the presidency and win Florida in 2016."
He added that Democrats are carrying a big margin on mail-in ballots, because "their folks pushed them to the mail," but Republicans have an advantage with in-person and early voting.
DeSantis also predicted a high Hispanic vote for Trump over Democrat challenger Joe Biden because of the liberal stance of Biden's running mate Sen. Kamala Harris.
"There are a lot of Democrats, but I can tell you those particular Hispanic voters, they, their grandparents, or parents were affected by Marxism and leftism," said the governor. "They are sensitive to this. They see somebody like a Kamala Harris as the vice-presidential candidate, she's more left-wing than Bernie Sanders in the Senate."
Trump has also been strong against Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and Cuban leader Raul Castro, DeSantis, and that will resonate with voters.
"If he can improve by a third of the deficit, that's 100,000 votes potentially and I think that that rally was a good indication," said DeSantis. "It had to have been 70% Hispanic and not just Cuban American. We have Venezuelan Americans, Nicaraguan Americans, all these folks understand freedom and they understand that if America walks away from freedom, they don't have anywhere else to go."
