If President Donald Trump stops his attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, then Democrats will work with him on healthcare reform, The Washington Post reports.

"Members of the Democratic caucus remain ready and willing to work with you on policies that would improve the stability of the individual insurance market," said 44 members of the Senate Democratic caucus in a letter to Trump, which was shared with the Post.

"We ask that you begin the work of improving health care for millions of Americans by rescinding your Jan. 20 executive order."

This order handed federal agencies the power to scale back ACA regulations.

"Your administration must commit to putting an end to all efforts to unravel the ACA, undermine the healthcare system, increase costs, or hurt patients, providers and families," the letter reads.

Last week, House Republicans failed to reach an agreement on the party's proposed replacement to Obamacare. Despite this setback, Trump insisted over the weekend that the ACA "will explode," but that he will organize a replacement.

"While we would welcome your sincere interest in bipartisan work to improve quality, lower costs, and expand coverage, we are concerned by your recent statement indicating it would be a good thing to make the ACA 'explode,'" the senators wrote.

"Instead, we urge you to use your executive authority to support a stable, competitive insurance marketplace."

Only Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Jon Tester of Montana, and Maine independent Angus King, who caucuses with Democrats, did not sign the letter.
