Dem Rep: Trump Used Repeal, Replace as 'Applause Line'

MSNBC's "MSNBC Live"

Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., thinks President Donald Trump used his call for the repeal of Obamacare as an "applause line" – and never actually understood what is in the 2010 healthcare law.

In an interview on MSNBC, the Washington Democrat was dismissive of Trump's understanding of his call to repeal and replace Obamacare.

"I think what this president has said is he's gone out to rallies and said repeal Obamacare simply because he could get a big, huge applause line," she told MSNBC.

"I don't know that he ever understood exactly what the provisions of Obamacare were, or what we're trying to accomplish in our health system today for more affordable quality care."

Murray, the third-ranking Senate Democrat, joined other Democrats in filibustering the original GOP House bill, The Hill noted.
