Democrat Ned Lamont holds a two-digit lead over Republican Bob Stefanowski in the Connecticut governor’s race, according to the latest Quinnipiac University Poll released on Thursday.
In a head-to-head matchup, Lamont holds a clear advantage over the GOP candidate.
- Lamont: 53 percent.
- Stefanowski: 37 percent.
- Don’t know or wouldn’t vote: 9 percent.
"Ned Lamont is leading Bob Stefanowski by double digits thanks to huge support among women and Connecticut's status as a true blue state. But there's a lot of time until Election Day, and a number of undecided voters up for grabs," Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz said in a statement.
When independent candidate Oz Griebel and Libertarian Party candidate Rod Hanscomb are included, Lamont loses more support than Stefanowski, but retains a strong lead.
- Lamont: 46 percent.
- Stefanowski: 33 percent.
- Griebel: 4 percent.
- Hanscomb: 1 percent.
- Don’t know or other: 17 percent.
Quinnipiac also found that in the Connecticut Senate race, Democratic incumbent Sen. Chris Murphy outpaces his Republican opponent Matthew Corey by a wide margin.
- Murphy: 59 percent.
- Corey: 31 percent.
- Don’t know or wouldn’t vote: 10 percent.
Quinnipiac polled 1,029 Connecticut voters by phone from August 16-21, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
