New York Rep. Brian Higgins said that he does not plan to support Rep. Nancy Pelosi for another term as leader of the Democrats in the House.
"I will not support her. … This is my conclusion: She's aloof, frenetic, and misguided,” Higgins told The Buffalo News about the House minority leader.
Pelosi became the top Democrat in the House in 2003, and was the first female speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011.
Higgins said other Democrats share his opinion.
"I'm giving voice to a frustration that I hear every single day. It's members. I don't want to call anybody out. But this is the conversation that is taking place,” Higgins told the News.
The congressman also said that the Democratic Party is not ready for the 2020 presidential race.
"We're lacking a clear, coherent and compelling narrative,” Higgins told the News.
Part of the reason is Pelosi, Higgins said.
"When she's on the floor, she's frenetic. I think she lacks gravitas,” said Higgins.
Republicans are taking aim at Pelosi in the midterm campaign cycle. The Congressional Leadership Fund, a GOP super PAC, is calling her "Negative Nancy” in a digital ad, The Hill reported Thursday.
