Dem Senator Trolls Trump After Rosenstein Unveils Russia Indictments

The senior senator from Hawaii threw a Twitter jab at President Donald Trump Friday after several Russians were indicted on interfering with the 2016 U.S. election.

Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, had this to say regarding Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein's announcement about special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation: "This is a VERY well done hoax."

Trump and his Republican allies often refer to the Russia investigation, which is examining whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, as a hoax.

Schatz later followed up his tweet with this message that asked Americans to be more aware of foreign involvement in the U.S.:

This maybe is a secondary point today but we all, as citizens, have to get better at recognizing and rejecting foreign attempts to sow discord. And we will need more help from big tech.

Mueller's indictment charges 13 Russians and three Russian companies with meddling in the U.S. election via several means, including stealing Americans' identities and posing as politically active voters to stir up conversation on social media and organize rallies.
