The anonymous whistleblower who revealed President Donald Trump's controversial comments on a call with the Ukrainian president at one point had a "professional relationship" with a current Democratic candidate for president.
According to the Washington Examiner's Byron York, the unnamed whistleblower told Intelligence Community inspector general Michael Atkinson he or she "worked or had some type of professional relationship with one of the Democratic candidates," who has not been named, according to an unidentified source "with knowledge of what was said," according to York.
Atkinson wrote in a letter Aug. 26 the whistleblower has "some indicia of an arguable political bias . . . in favor of a rival political candidate," but "such evidence did not change my determination that the complaint relating to the urgent concern 'appears credible,' particularly given the other information the ICIG obtained during its preliminary review."
"The IG said the whistleblower had a professional relationship with one of the 2020 candidates," another unidentified source added.
"What [Atkinson] said was that the whistleblower self-disclosed that he was a registered Democrat and that he had a prior working relationship with a current 2020 Democratic presidential candidate," said a third source.
