Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., says anyone in Washington, D.C., would have gone to the meeting at Trump Tower to meet someone offering dirt on Hillary Clinton.
Rohrabacher told Mother Jones reporter David Corn in an impromptu conversation Friday evening, the report President Donald Trump knew about the meeting between his son, son-in-law, former campaign chairman, and a Russian emissary who was offering compromising information on Clinton.
"It's a big zero," he said. "There's not a person in this town who would not take a meeting to get material like that."
Corn noted Rohrabacher questioned whether Trump's campaign team knew the emissary was representing a foreign government, and seemed uninterested when Corn pointed out emails arranging the meeting imply members of the campaign knew about the Kremlin connection.
Rohrabacher was once called by Politico, "Putin's favorite congressman," for seeking to remove the named of a martyred Russian lawyer who allegedly uncovered millions of dollars of theft by government officials from the Magnitsky Act.
