White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday that while listening to former President Barack Obama speaking in Chicago, she was reminded that she has "no idea who the leader of the Democratic Party is."
"Is it him, on whose watch they lost the White House, the House, the Senate, nearly 1,000 state legislative seats, lost chambers and governorships?" Conway told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program.
"Is it Tom Perez, who has that title as leader of the Democratic National Committee? Is it Bernie Sanders, who won 22 states last year in the Democratic primary but refuses to call himself a Democrat? In fact, he is a Socialist.
"Is it Hillary Clinton, who is still out there on the stump, [who] won't go quietly in the night?" Conway continued. "They are all welcome to say what they want, but I think the Democratic Party is having a real identity crisis."
Conway said she's noted in the past that usually two-term presidents who leave office typically give the president who follows them "great latitude" and time to work on their own agenda, and she hopes Obama extends that "same courtesy" to Trump.
Also during the interview, Conway pointed to a Politico article that discussed the "significant players" released from U.S. custody as part of Obama's nuclear deal with Iran.
"This president has made very clear that it was a bad deal," said Conway. "It should not have happened. He said it as recently as last week in a joint press conference. He continues to say that."
