New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie could eventually work in President Donald Trump's administration, but it may take a few years, the commander in chief's adviser Kellyanne Conway, tells The Record, a northern New Jersey newspaper.

In an interview with the newspaper, Conway said Christie, a longtime Trump supporter who was once in the running to be his vice-presidential running mate and attorney general, may still join Trump's team.

"The president likes Gov. Christie a lot. They talk all the time," Conway told The Record's Mike Kelly.

Christie was dumped as head of Trump's transition team, but Kelly says Conway believes he may eventually join the Trump administration "in some capacity, perhaps not for several more years, however."
