Connecticut does not favor its current Democratic governor, but voters appear ready to give another one a try.
While Connecticut Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski has managed to close the gap, Democrat Ned Lamont polled to a 7-point edge 46-39 percent in the latest Emerson College poll.
Five percent of potential voters are undecided.
The difference in the poll might be attributed to the unfavorable view (58 percent) of President Donald Trump in the state. Just 36 percent view President Trump favorably in the poll.
It sure is not the huge unfavorability of current Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy. He was trashed with 62 percent unfavorable and just 21 percent favorable.
Connecticut is also trending toward legalizing marijuana for recreational use and commercial sale for people 21 and older, as 53 percent support legalizing pot, while just 30 percent oppose.
Other results from the Emerson poll:
- Lamont 41 percent favorable and 39 percent unfavorable.
- Stefanowski 40 percent favorable and 46 percent unfavorable.
The RealClear Politics analysis has Lamont with a 5.5-point average lead in a race considered a "toss up."
Emerson College polled 780 potential voters between Oct. 27-29 with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
