Ripping President Donald Trump for reportedly telling his rich friends at Mar-a-Lago in West Palm Beach "you all just got a lot richer" after tax reform, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called the president "Santa to the rich, Scrooge to the poor."
Democratic talking points on tax reform have included calling the bill the House and Senate passed on party-line votes – and signed into law Friday by President Trump – a "tax scam" and a gift to the wealthy. Sen. Schumer went further with the rhetoric, adding a Christmas flare to it with references to Santa Claus and Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" character Ebenezer Scrooge.
Before his holiday rebuttal Sunday, Schumer shared the CBS News report of Trump's Mar-a-Lago comment.
Also Sunday morning, former Rep. Jason Chaffetz predicted a January "battle royale" between obstructionist Democrats, fiscal conservatives, and President Trump's optimistic and expensive 2018 agenda.
