Chris Cuomo on Dems Helping GOP: 'I'm Not Seeing it'

CNN "New Day" anchor Chris Cuomo rebuked Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., for saying her party are "absolutely, earnestly willing" to work with Republicans on healthcare legislature.

"What we need to do is sit down and work out the kinks, the problems, the challenges that we know have arisen in what was a major overall in the health care system, the Affordable Care Act, and work together to iron those out. That's what we've said for seven years straight," the former Democratic National Committee chair said Friday morning

"Every Republican I've talked to says that you guys have been instructed not to help and that as long as repeal is on the table you won't talk," Cuomo replied.

"No, I'll tell you what we're not — what we're not doing," Wasserman Schultz responded. "That's right, we are not going to help them repeal the Affordable Care Act and take away health care from 14 million people a year from now and 24 million people 10 years from now."

"We need to sit down together," Schultz added later. "Democrats are absolutely, earnestly willing to sit down and work together to address the problems in the current law and the Republicans just want to fulfill their so-called perceived mandate to repeal it lock, stock and barrel. It's unacceptable."

Cuomo replied, "Right. No, I mean, look, I hear you on that, but I have to be honest with you, I'm not seeing it on the Democratic side."
