Republicans are likely to write a response to Democrats' rebuttal of the memo that alleges FBI surveillance abuse during the Obama administration, Rep. Chris Collins said Tuesday.
"My guess is that after the Democratic rebuttal is released, and I'm confident it will be, you'll probably see a Republican rebuttal to the rebuttal," the New York Republican told CNN's "New Day" program.
President Donald Trump last week authorized the release of the memo in full, and the House Intelligence Committee voted to release the Democrats' rebuttal. The next step is for Trump to decide whether to release the Democrat rebuttal.
Collins told CNN the president should "absolutely" release it, so that Americans could make up their own decisions about the issue.
The lawmaker also discussed the memo in an interview with Kasie Hunt on MSNBC, saying it does not discredit special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the election.
