Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, a Democrat, called his party's presidential nominee Hillary Clinton "honest" during a debate, eliciting laughter from the crowd, The Daily Caller reports.
Crist is currently challenging Republican Rep. David Jolly for the state's 13th Congressional District seat. During a debate Monday night, Crist praised Clinton.
"I am proud of Hillary Clinton," Crist said.
"I think she's been a very good secretary of state, a very good senator from the state of New York. The thing I like most about her is I believe she is steady, I believe that she is strong, I believe that she is honest, and I look forward to voting for her," Crist added.
The conservative America Rising PAC quickly spread the clip around.
A recent poll from the Center for Public Integrity/Ipsos shows Clinton is seen as dishonest more than she's considered honest — 35 percent to 50 percent — but her Republican opponent Donald Trump fares even worse, at 58 percent dishonest to 26 percent honest.
According to Politico, Crist and Jolly are currently tied in their race, each both polling at 46 percent, though Crist is viewed unfavorably by more voters than Jolly — 37 percent to 16 percent.
