Carrier is keeping only 800 jobs in Indianapolis, about 300 less than the number President-elect Donald Trump initially reported, CNN Money reports.

Trump made a deal with Carrier last Tuesday to keep jobs in the United States, offering the furnace and air conditioning manufacturer financial incentives to save from jobs being shipped to Mexico. The move would have saved Carrier about $65 million a year.

To get the higher number, Trump and Carrier counted 300 jobs not initially at risk of being shipped from the U.S., CNN reported.

Carrier, which employs about 200,000 people, still plans on moving 600 jobs to Mexico. Carrier told its employees that those laid off will receive up to four years of tuition assistance to train for another position or have the chance to transfer to open jobs at other plants.

Trump caught flak for the deal from former presidential candidate Sarah Palin, one of his supporters during the campaign.

"When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent," Palin wrote in an op-ed for the Young Conservatives website. "Republicans oppose this, remember? We support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail."
