Cain Hopes to Carve 50-state Path to White House

ATLANTA (AP) — Herman Cain is pledging to ramp up his fledgling White House campaign.

He'll need to — and quickly — if he has any hope of winning the nomination.

The unlikely presidential contender has little to no campaign organization in Iowa, New Hampshire and other key states where voting begins in a matter of months.

And he hasn't done much yet in early voting states to capitalize on the recent surge in popularity reflected in recent polls.

He's focusing instead on what aides call a 50-state strategy. Cain campaign manager Mark Block says Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina are important, but he also says Cain isn't basing his whole campaign on winning those three
