George P. Bush: Dad Jeb Likely to Run for President

By    |   Sunday, 26 October 2014 11:39 AM

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is more likely than not to run for president in 2016, says his son, George P. Bush.

"I think he's still assessing it," the 38-year-old candidate for Texas land commissioner said in a interview broadcast Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

"I think it's more than likely that he's giving this a serious thought … that he'll run," George P. Bush said. "If you'd asked me a few years back I would have said that it was less likely."

If Jeb Bush does decide to run, "The family will be behind him 100 percent," George P. Bush said.

Jeb Bush's own mother, Barbara Bush, has in the past opined that there have been enough Bushes in the White House.

With the famous family name, George P. Bush is in his first run for elective office. Though his grandfather, George H.W. Bush, and uncle, George W. Bush, both have served in the Oval Office, George P. Bush said he has never even thought about the prospect of running for the nation's highest office.

He did note, however, that actually putting his name on the ballot after years of political involvement gave him an awareness that "it's a different level of sacrifice."
